Dallasite

[edit]

There is a second stone with the name dallasite, named after the city of Dallas, Oregon where it was first discovered. It can also be found on Vancouver Island, which could be confusing.

Here are some resources with information if anyone is interested and wants to make mention of it somewhere.

"Dallasite and Oregon Sunstone," by Robert Weldon, in Gems & Gemology, vol. 52, no. 2: pp. 189-191(2016)

"The Dallasite Formations: A Suggested Interpretation" by Francis C. Butler and John W. Hostutler, in the American Journal of Science, vol 261: pp. 257-262 (1963).

"The Mineralogical Part of the Oregon Exhibit" by J.S. Diller, in Transactions of the American Institute of Mining Engineers, vol. 30: pp. 79-80 (1900) Deadintelect (talk) 10:02, 5 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
