Cristiano → Cristiano (disambiguation) – Cristiano Ronaldo is by far the primary topic, as it gets more views than every other entry. And "Cristiano" should redirect to Cristiano Ronaldo. YeetV4 (talk) 21:21, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Support per nom, probably overwhelming PRIMARYTOPIC.--Ortizesp (talk) 22:08, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Comment Is he known mononymously as "Cristiano"? 162 etc. (talk) 01:15, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose He is not referred to or known mononymously. Walrasiad (talk) 02:28, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- He is known mononymously as Cristiano. YeetV4 (talk) 03:20, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- You linked his personal Instagram account, which is about as far from a reliable source as we can get :D --Joy (talk) 13:47, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Per WP:DPT, we can have a look at some standard stats:
-
- Last month, we could identify 145 clicks to the proposed primary topic, compared to 290 views. That's 50%, which isn't really a great indicator of primary topic by usage. There's also 67 filtered clicks, and 43+14 to the human name lists.
- Another reason why this isn't a great indicator is that June was the month of the last World Cup played by Cristiano Ronaldo, so there was a natural spike in interest. Page views confirm it (in logarithmic view). Obviously, this is also transient. So if during a surge of interest the proposed primary topic can barely get half of the interest, what should we expect to happen next year? Possibly more than half of the readers surprised by an overzealous primary redirect?
- Cristiano Ronaldo at 41,468 views/day does dwarf all these listed here. The next one is just 7/day.
- This is split off because of a WP:NAMELIST - the calculation says there are 194 links there, which is a lot in itself.
- Here we do find some topics with noticable readership, like Cristiano Biraghi at 134/day, Cristiano Felício 120/day, Cristiano Lucarelli 110/day, Cristiano Zanetti 98/day, Cristiano Júnior 93/day, etc. I had to scroll to item #64 to get to 7/day.
- This is split off because... I don't know why. It's a pretty short list. There's no particular usage there, the top entries are just 2/day.
- There's a lot of these people, so even if there's an obvious advantage for one of them, we should probably have a modicum of an analysis of long-term significance. Our list formatting isn't great - we're hiding dozens of possibly interesting entries behind another click just because we're slaves to mononymous usage, which causes some apparently long tail entries to bubble up near the top. Which brings up the obvious issue of - what problem would this change actually be solving? --Joy (talk) 14:03, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose AFAIK, he is mostly known as "Ronaldo". Making him also the primary topic of Cristiano doesn't make sense. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 19:58, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
