"Ronaldoraptor"
[edit]The article states, without source, that the so-called "Ronaldoraptor" may be a specimen of Corythoraptor. If this can't be backed up by a reliable source, the info needs to be removed. Seems to be WP:original research. FunkMonk (talk) 18:44, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've gone and removed it for now, while fixing the rest of the article. Lusotitan (talk) 22:55, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
Restorations
[edit]Another issue with the early IP-edit, the restoration in the paper was deemed inaccurate (due to the primary feathers attaching to the wrist instead of the second finger, I assume), and a new image was requested. But now that the new image is here, it seems to have the same problem? I have fixed the problem in the skeletal diagram. It could possibly be fixed in the two life restorations as well, though it will be harder with the one from the paper. FunkMonk (talk) 11:02, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
The invalidity of the genus
[edit]Since the 2026 paper came out, it's pretty safe to say that Corythoraptor has officially been invalidated.
Should the article stay up and changed to reflect on the recent scientific paper? Or should it be absorbed with Huanansaurus? GranCarbonaria9 (talk) 16:48, 21 June 2026 (UTC)
- I would certainly support a merge - precedent has often been to wait, but it can be years before anyone happens to mention the taxon again and merging is very low risk as historical revisions can be brought back in the event of the synonymy being challenged. Not all synonymy proposals are made equal, but a detailed rebuttal based on firsthand examination and new material being brought to light seems solid enough to follow for the moment.
