"Purpose" section is needlessly US centric

[edit]

Especially the intro paragraph. 62.197.243.9 (talk) 12:32, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Additionally the timeline of introduction includes individual U.S. states. Such introduction would be more relevant in an "Compulsory education in the United States" page. 91.216.236.239 (talk) 18:05, 30 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vietnam

[edit]

Vietnam only has 5 years of compulsory and free education. Some provinces, such as Hải Phòng and Thừa Thiên - Huế, have nine years of free education, but it’s not compulsory. 2405:4802:1D2E:2D20:E0E0:66B:1165:B782 (talk) 08:39, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

United kingdom

[edit]

Might be a small issue to start a talk on, but for the sake of accuracy, the United Kingdom has 13 years of compulsory education (not represented in map), if the map record was intentional (as the last 2 years are education compulsory but not necessarily in a 'school environment' Neuton097 (talk) 20:44, 19 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Map in the lede is contradicted by other reliable sources

[edit]

The map provided in the lede relies on one single source, namely this one . For several European countries, the info on the map is contradicted by other sources, including (the annual European report by the European Commission-funded Eurydice Network, which lists the number of compulsory years of education in each European country). It is problematic to have a map relying on one single source of questionable quality (WP:UNDUE), especially when such source is contradicted by other reliable sources; and it's even more problematic to have it in the lede. The map should be removed from the article, or at least it should be removed removed from the lede.2A02:2F0F:B208:C500:9040:15D5:F0A1:F32E (talk) 18:52, 14 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
