I refined the initial definition, added headings for application of the concept in Phonology and in Morphology, and added the Morphology part. The use of analogies can be good for getting the concept of complementary distribution across to non-linguists. Allophones are to phonemes, and allomorphs are to morphemes, as the component fractions are to the wholes that contain them. Agent X 21:18, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply
