Fat composition

[edit]

Nutrition says "The fat composition includes 21 grams of saturated fat, half of which is lauric acid (table)." but the only table (on RHS) does not show the types and % of fat present.
Coconut oil (is that the same fat mix as coconut milk?) has :

Fatty acid content of coconut oil
Type of fatty acid pct
Lauric saturated C12
48%
Myristic saturated C14
16%
Palmitic saturated C16
9.5%
Capric saturated C10
8%
Caprylic saturated C8
7%
Oleic monounsaturated C18:1
6.5%
Other
5%
black: Saturated; grey: Monounsaturated; blue: Polyunsaturated

If sampled or extracted individually, the milk and oil would have different compositions of macro-compounds (milk having 68% water content, whereas pure oil has no water), but the percentages of fatty acids in the oil would be the same, no matter the sample taken. The source for the oil content in both instances is the USDA FoodData Central database linked in the nutrition tables. Zefr (talk) 21:09, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
