Although articles on other topics related to sensor arrays exists, there is no apparent article focused on the extensive topic of chemical sensor arrays. The article presents a brief history of chemical sensor arrays beginning with the idea for the creating sensors inspired by the 5 senses, with focus given to the electronic nose and array sensing of volatile organic compounds as this has dominated much of the early efforts with chemical sensor arrays. The article will then survey the different types of chemical sensor arrays, including chemiresistive, optical, and colorimetric chemical sensor arrays. The theoretical and chemical underpinnings which make these sensor arrays functional will be highlighted. As a part of this, the different classes of materials used in sensor arrays and their chemistries are be presented in both written and visual formats. A initial article has been published with a bibliography has been prepared containing 44 citations (primarily sourced from literature reviews and primary literature sources). These citations provide both breadth and depth on chemical sensor arrays history of chemical sensor arrays and their applications. Nanomaterials21 (talk) 19:01, 3 March 2021 (UTC)Nanomaterials21Reply
