In Thai language, many establishments are referred to as “shopping malls” (Thai: ห้าง, pronounced haang) including:

  1. hypermarkets e.g. Lotus's, Big C, Makro and GO Wholesale (Thai version of Google Maps label these as Thai: ไฮเปอร์มาร์เก็ต)
  2. Shopping centers e.g. Terminal 21, The Mall Lifestore and most Central shopping malls (Thai version of Google Maps label these as Thai: ศูนย์การค้า)
  3. Department stores e.g. Central Chidlom, Central Bangrak (Thai version of Google Maps label these as Thai: ห้างสรรพสินค้า, this Thai term get shortened and became haang which is most often translated to “shopping malls” in English)

I'm thinking that one day all articles about “shopping malls” in Thailand should be updated/changed from Shopping malls to each of the tree subtype shown above. But with a {{efn}} note saying that such establishment is often referred to as a shopping mall in Thai. Jothefiredragon🐲talk🔥contributions🧨logmail🐉global 11:40, 15 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
