Lead is too wordy

[edit]

The lead of this article is far too wordy and repetitive of the content. It's non-typical for what is expected in political leads Wjhonson (talk) 13:33, 19 October 2025 (UTC)Reply

Deportation of Venezuelans

[edit]

I recently made an edit that was reverted; this edit was not based on original research. While Byron Donalds was campaigning to become the Governor of Florida, he visited a restaurant called El Arepazo. This tour was reported by several media, including POLITICO, from which I cited a reference. It is a hospitality location in Doral, Florida, where as the population census shows, the Venezuelan origin corresponds to around 40% of inhabitants.[1] The restaurant targets Venezuelan customers, and is the location where immigrants from that country meet to recall Venezuelan gastronomy and follow up political events in Venezuela.[2]

Univision showed a video where a journalist asked Donalds whether Venezuelans who were previously eligible for Temporary Protected Status would have a legal option to obtain permanent residency.[3] It referred to a immigration relief option offered to hundreds of thousands of people born in Venezuela who arrived to the United States before March 9, 2021 and had not committed any felony.[4] In the video Univision showed, as I cited, Donalds responded that any person whose Temporary Protected Status ended would not be able to find another immigration status so that they will be deported.[5] Pianeta Blu (talk) 20:36, 5 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think Donalds's statement is noteworthy, but the facts are ordered in a way that looks like synthesis or editorializing. There's also no need to cite census data to describe the population if the sources make that assertion. @Marquardtika, care to elaborate on your reversion? What stood out to me was the use of census data. That's clearly original research and synthesis. There are some relible sources used in the disputed content and we may be able to come up with something usable, but not with the census data. Marquardtika (talk) 03:56, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
