Article content & notability

Hi @TheWiki93 (cc'ing @Pppery). For anything to have a Wikipedia article (including a bus route), it must meet Wikipedia's notability guideline. For something to be notable, it must have received significant coverage in several independent, secondary sources. Generally, bus routes are not considered notable by the Wikipedia community. If you believe that the Bx18 is notable (for example, it has a significant history that has been well-documented), I recommend that you create a create a draft page to work on the article. I have self-reverted the move. It looks like this page was already moved from Bx18 (New York City bus) to Bx18 bus previously, but was reverted, before this page was moved to Bx18 a few weeks ago. I accidentally compounded the issue by restoring the "Bx18 bus" name without checking the previous discussion. My bad.

Bx18 (New York City bus) → Bx18 bus – WP:PRECISION. To quote JHunterJ at Talk:Bx12 bus: there's no ambiguity for this title, and pursuing consistency in disambiguating phrases for the sake of consistency has been rejected by the community throughout various topic projects, most recently Wikipedia:Naming conventions (US stations)/NYC Subway RfC. All the reasons there apply here too. Appending "bus" per eventual result of Talk:Bx15 bus#Requested move 11 April 2020. This title is consistent with the titles, and RM outcomes, of Bx12 bus and Bx15 bus.

I'm opening this RM specifically since this was moved to "Bx18 bus", but this move was reverted on 13 September 2024. Since then, it was moved to just "Bx18", before any discussion was initiated. I moved this to "Bx18 bus" but reverted to the status quo title after being alerted of the previous move. Per WP:NATURALDIS and WP:PRECISION, I'm suggesting "Bx18 bus". • Comment Category:Bus routes in the Bronx, Category:Bus routes in Brooklyn, Category:Bus routes in Queens etc. show other examples of Foo (New York City bus) which have similar circumstances.   @162 etc., agreed regarding the pages in Category:Bus routes in the Bronx. However, a similar attempt by Kew Gardens 613 to move all of these articles to "X bus" was reverted by Amakuru under the reasoning Reverting mass undiscussed move of bus routes per WP:RMUM; city name is useful for recognition, and some such as B15 are also ambiguous with bus routes in other cities. – Epicgenius (talk) 14:48, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
