globalisation
[edit]I tried to make it a bit more neutral, but as I only have one perspective of it myself. so more views would come in handy. additionally, this should all be within the moulding article, as that's what it is. Up here we make no difference in the production process (paint, wood selection etc)if it's a baseboard, window/door or wall-to-roof moulding, as it's all technically the same, made from the same materials. The only thing that differs is the crossection of the moulding, wich sets limits on where it's practical to use it. Raymond Holmoey (talk) 20:15, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
Other materials.
[edit]Commercial base boards are almost universally composed of vinyl, rubber, metal, or tile. They are cheaper, require less skill to install than custom wood, and may better meet fire safety codes. Many modern building designs lack a baseboard altogether. To create a straight, perfectly 90 degree joint between floor and wall requires a lot of skill.
