Need help tracking down two awards

[edit]

I've tracked down four of the six awards Gowda received. Two I cannot find (I suspect they are not in English) include a Asamanya Kannadiga Award, which may have been awarded before 2016, as many of the awards after that date are in English. I suspect that he may have received the Asamanya Kannadiga between 2012 and 2015, but that's just a guess. The second is a "State Library Award", which may be a grant, I think, which I've found evidence for, but not under that name. Any help is appreciated. Also need more information about the government subsidies he received. Viriditas (talk) 01:16, 25 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Young bus driver photo

[edit]

The photo of him circulating as a young bus driver is amazing. We really need to get a copy of it here. Viriditas (talk) 23:52, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Article created 7 February. No issues of copyvio or plagiarism. All sources appear reliable. Hooks are interesting and sourced. QPQ is done. Looks ready to go. Thriley (talk) 20:31, 12 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Pulled from prep due to sourcing concerns, per this discussion. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 02:04, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • Courtesy link re: Pulling doesn't undo the review discussion, which seems to indicate that Thriley's review is in fact still valid. Please clarify "correct" procedure. -- Cl3phact0 (talk) 09:15, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
    • As long as there's no reason to doubt a review on a given point – the content has not changed and the assessment has not been challenged – it can stay. I think what TechnoSquirrel69 means (and they are, by the way, very correct that all content in a DYK article that could reasonably be challenged needs to be cited to a reliable source – i.e. no unreliable sources should be there) is that the new content in the article, of which there is a lot, has effectively not been reviewed and needs to be checked against the content-specific criteria (sourcing, neutrality, copyright). theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 12:02, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
    • Also – I notice you want to clarify these things a lot, Cl3phact0, and I think that's great, but you should know that, afaik, TechnoSquirrel69 has been here for less time than you have. He doesn't (yet) have Mysterious Secret Insider knowledge of "correct" procedure that is unknown to everyone else. He's just making a common-sense judgment call based off the fact that all content in a DYK article needs to be checked against the DYK criteria. Maybe I've run into this scenario before, maybe not, but the rule I've communicated above is just an amalgamation of judgment calls I've made and have seen other people make, not an excerpt from a hard-and-fast set of rules that all of the DYK regulars agreed upon and forgot to write down. All of this is to say, I think it's great that you're involved with DYK and trying to get a clear expectation of what the rules are. Just know that there's not much we know that you don't; it is just our application of our experience and DYK's general principles, which is a thing you can also do and have an opinion on. theleekycauldron (talk • she/her) 12:13, 27 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • New review needed as the article has been significantly expanded since being pulled. (I've boldly updated the credits to list Viriditas as a co-author.) For what it's worth, I have no objections to Thriley re-reviewing if they're interested in going so — RSNOI issues can be tricky to spot, so I don't hold anybody at fault for the fact that these weren't brought up during the previous review. I also agree that this can be exempted from timing out under the circumstances, unless further concerns are identified on the re-review. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 16:28, 1 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
