Location of birth

[edit]

We have reliable sources saying Beshear's birth was in either Lexington or Louisville. How to resolve? Stefen 𝕋ower Huddle • Handiwerk 05:36, 12 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

With no responses, I will just go with the status quo, adding an explanatory note saying that while former governor Steve Beshear has stated Andy's birthplace was in Lexington, other reliable sources state that it was in Louisville. the Stefen 𝕋ower 00:24, 2 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

December 2025 removal of content

[edit]

On December 17, content was removed with the summary "All non WP:RSP sources plus WP:SYNTH, WP:COATRACK, WP:UNDUE etc. Please stop adding promotional clutter". I might agree with much of the removal, but some of the reasoning used is inaccurate. The sources were not "all non WP:RSP", as there were many reliable, secondary sources in the mix (e.g. WDRB and The Lane Report). Beyond that, though, WP:SYNTH and WP:COATRACK are reasonable judgments for a lot of the material as it appears to some degree that a non-RS-based narrative was created from disparate facts pieced together. WP:UNDUE is a weaker argument, but still plausible. "Promotional clutter" rings a bell as some of the material gave the feel of building up the subject for the next political campaign, and economic expansion in the state is not always due to a governor's efforts.

I'm starting this topic to see if there is any feedback regarding this removal, and whether any of the removed content should be restored. Stefen 𝕋ower Huddle • Handiwerk 21:15, 18 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

April Edits

[edit]

Reverted edits include details and information featured in introduction sections on multiple governor's pages. These include Ernie Fletcher, Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, JB Pritzker, Josh Shapiro, Ron DeSantis, Bill Haslam, and Greg Abbott, among others. Information in the reverted edit is common across those pages and these edits bring it in line with those. Rock Me Like A Herman Cain (talk) 20:02, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

The lead is meant to be an introduction and summary of key points described in the rest of the article. Many of your additions were claims that were not described in the rest of the article body. Per @StefenTower's edit summary of the initial revert: Too much non-lead material; you may want to incrementally beef up related sections beneath. Those claims are stuitable for the article by my reading, but you should instead be adding them to the relevant sections of the article body. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 20:12, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also relevant to your points above is WP:OTHERCONTENT. ᴸᵃᶠᶠʸTaffer💬(they/she) 20:15, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Start with expanding/improving the prose in the rest of the article, and then we can consider expanding the lead to summarize it. We don't change an article to match others in such a rote manner. the Stefen 𝕋ower 20:24, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
See also MOS:LONGLEAD, and consider the possibility that leads in other articles are sometimes overdone, and therefore matching the size and coverage in other articles is not preferable compared to organic article development. the Stefen 𝕋ower 20:31, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

May Edits

[edit]

Under gubernatorial tenure propose creating a breakout heading for disasters and emergencies, with subheadings underneath for COVID-19, Eastern Kentucky flooding, and Western Kentucky tornadoes. Rock Me Like A Herman Cain (talk) 18:23, 12 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

Growing pains

[edit]

This article has nearly doubled in size this year alone. I am generally concerned that some of the new content isn't fully compliant with WP:WEIGHT. Consider this an invitation for editors to pick apart the article so we can right-size the coverage. the Stefen 𝕋ower 00:39, 19 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
