Multiple reference discussion

This page had a large number of references that were not cited in the text, some leading to websites that held no information about the subject (I consulted archived pages and the same was true). I removed the sources that had no information, and left the one below, even though it's not cited in the body text[1]. I moved it to within the body so that the references would be listed correctly. This is perhaps an excessive number of references for such a small article; several books have the briefest of references to the subject. It would be useful if someone with more editing experience was able to have a look and make a decision on whether they should remain or perhaps be removed.
