Pronunciation

The average English speaker doesn't know there are 2 'i' letters in Turkish, much less how to pronounce the language.

Esztergom = Estergon: Therefore 'Castle of Esztergom' should be the proper English form.

Basibozuk and Delil(?) and Eagle wings

I suspect there is a confusion about Akincis which are distinct from "Basibozuks". "Basibozuk", literally "messed up in the head", meaning crazy ("deli", not "delil" which means evidence!), were ad hoc groups of untrained folk, peasants, adventurers, religious fanatics who joined a marching army and were thrown at the enemy as cannon fodder while the regular troops took advantage of the confused opponents. Akincis were never called "deli" or "basibozuk" as far as I know and they were highly trained horsemen and warriors.

The wings these horsemen wore were almost certainly not of eagles, a bird rarely found along the Balkan plains, but of cranes and/or herons, abundant along Danube and in fact same (almost) name as the bird itself (Turna vs Tuna) in Turkish. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.165.246.10 (talk) 19:06, 6 July 2012 (UTC)
