Appologetism?
[edit]This article of the Aghawat of Mecca states that one of the explanations given to why there were eunuchs serving as guards was that "Recently, castration in East Africa was a common practice by the Italian colonists and has resulted in the existence of many eunuchs in East Africa". This sounds very strange: surely Italian 20th-century colonists did not have such a practice? This sounds like a myth served as appologetism. Is it not more likely that these eunuchs were in fact victims of the Red Sea slave trade, but that excuses were served to hide this? Slavery in Saudi Arabia was not abolished until 1962.--Aciram (talk) 13:05, 21 August 2024 (UTC)
The etymology section is weird

seems a bit silly to anyone who speaks a language with this word, it's obvious that the name was given out of respect, it's common in this region to grant such titles even to those in service roles. ~2026-29772-82 (talk) 19:55, 17 May 2026 (UTC)
