Delaware close-in-age exception under age 30
[edit]Current text claims that in Delaware, it is allowed for an older partner under 30 to have sex with teenagers aged 16 and 17. As I read the pertinent portions of the statute, it seems like this would still violate Delaware law, just that only one of the two sections of the law would apply if the older person is under age 30. - Is there any interest in correcting this? Fundamentally, I don't care, if the Wikipedia community is indifferent to having major and material errors in this article, why should I let it bother me? I'm happy to elaborate, specifically with regard to the actual text of the various sections of the Delaware statute, but I don't want to be the one responding, given the inevitability of the objections that will be raised. Fabrickator (talk) 05:04, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Apparently I misunderstood how the Delaware legislature structured this statute, so I will say it was my mistake for reading the statute, although perhaps not carefully enough. In any case, never mind. Fabrickator (talk) 16:37, 7 December 2025 (UTC)
Pictairn Islands age of consent in the map
[edit]when it comes to pictairn islands, the situation surrounding the age of consent is complicated, here's info from the wikipedia article "Age of consent in Oceania", "The current age of consent appears to be 16, as a 1999 case involved a New Zealand tourist convicted of "unlawful carnal knowledge" of a girl of 15 (this will be confirmed once The Pitcairn Constitution Order 2010 comes into effect). However the Pitcairn sexual assault trial of 2004 involved mostly charges of rape or sexual assault, not "underage sex" (and some "gross indecency with a child under 14" charges), although it was claimed during the trial that (presumably consensual) "underage sex" with girls from the age of 12 was normal on Pitcairn.", as you can see from the text, the situation surrounding the age of consent in pictairn islands is complicated, and i would like to see what to do with the map. 109.81.29.16 (talk) 13:11, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
Update map
[edit]The map needs to be updated. Consensual heterosexual sex outside of marriage is also illegal in Mauritania and Somalia, read https://web.archive.org/web/20250719025450/https://metroafrica.com/is-adultery-illegal-in-african-countries-legal-and-cultural-views-by-nation/, and now that the 2026 Criminal Code has come into force, Indonesia, read https://aninjusticemag.com/no-sex-outside-of-marriage-how-indonesias-new-criminal-code-signals-a-global-backslide-3c96b9ce56ad It is also illegal in sharia law based states of Northern Nigeria but those are subnational divisions. Age of consent for Cuba
[edit]the following paragraph
"While age of consent laws vary widely from jurisdiction to jurisdiction,[4] nearly all jurisdictions set the age of consent between 14 and 18 years (with the exceptions of Cuba which sets the age of consent at 12"
Does not cite a source and all info I was able to access place the age of consent at 16 in Cuba. ~2026-25192-92 (talk) 20:53, 24 April 2026 (UTC)
