The Title of this Film is "Scissors"

[edit]

I think the evidence is pretty incontrovertible that this short film was never titled "Absurda," but was mistakenly thought to be based on a misunderstanding.

At the time Lynch made the film, his production company was called Absurda--had been for a few years at that point. When "Scissors" was first released as a part of the "To Each His Own Cinema" anthology film, there was no on-screen title, but only a title card crediting the production company. People saw the prominent text reading "Absurda" and no other title and mistakenly (though understandably) assumed it was the title of the short.

When Lynch released it himself on his YouTube page, he called it "Scissors." That's the only time an official title was ever given.

The title of this page should be changed to "Scissors" and there should be a parenthetical stating that the film is also known as "Absurda" since it will likely forever be mis-titled all over the internet. Counterpaul (talk) 08:07, 10 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
