Introduction
[edit]Hello I am a student at Western University and I will be editing this article as a project for a course called Advanced Genetics. I will be expanding this page by describing in detail how this gene controls ear wax in Asian populations and the rest of the world as well as how it affects odor from sweat from a genetic perspective. --Westernmgene (talk) 23:31, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
Need Elaboration
[edit]This: "The gene is responsible for determination of human cerumen type (wet or dry ear wax) and presence of underarm osmidrosis (odor associated with sweat caused by apocrine secretion), and is associated with colostrum secretion.[6]" is essentially almost meaningless. Does possession of this gene relate to wet cerumen or dry cerumen? Articles like this need a little more useful layperson information. All too often, they are more like articles for an arcane "WikiGenetics" and not encyclopaedia-like which is the benefit of Wikipedia. Vincent Ree (talk) 02:59, 12 September 2026 (UTC)
