about the 2026 event collage thing
[edit]why does that collage of the 2026 events keep appearing
"2026 fifa world cup is held"
how is this possible?? ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 17:16, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- @ArionStar, @Josephguy15, and @BFDIFan928, discuss about the collage here.
- ArionStar, get consensus before implementing the collage. It includes the World Cup and the Oympics which hasn't happened so far. Setarip (talk) 23:55, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
- I only kept the collage just because it's good that the collage is on display for other editors to add their suggestions. ArionStar (talk) 01:02, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- then wait till december 31 2026 bro ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 05:33, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- Ok bro ArionStar (talk) 17:40, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- If the death toll from the 2026 Venezuela earthquakes surpasses 1,000, we should reconsider its inclusion in the annual collage. I think it should replace the MV Hondius hantavirus outbreak. Nagae Iku (talk) 12:34, 25 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ok bro ArionStar (talk) 17:40, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- then wait till december 31 2026 bro ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 05:33, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- le 2026 winter olympics has already happened
- ONLY the mundial 2026 hasnt happened yet ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 05:30, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, right. The Olympics has gotten so irrelevant for me that I didn't even know it already took place. I'm not sure why we even put it in the Collage every time anyways, it happens every 2 years. Setarip (talk) 13:03, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
- I feel like we should wait till next year to add a collage for a couple reasons. 1. Because we still have another 6 months this year. 2. I don’t think that collages should be constantly edited whenever something new happens, for example, the 2013 collage for a while was always being edited, so it doesn’t really show what the collage is for, is events will just change and leave. And 3. For most of Wikipedia collages for years, they were added the year after the year in the article, or very late in that year, so it makes sense to stick to tradition BFDIFan928 (talk) 11:37, 27 May 2026 (UTC)
- I know this is almost 2 months ago, but just because 2026 hasn't ended yet doesn't mean we have to remove the collages thing. RacimV4 (talk) 12:51, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- I only kept the collage just because it's good that the collage is on display for other editors to add their suggestions. ArionStar (talk) 01:02, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
about the nations championship in the 2026 later lacking importance
[edit]you know how someone added the scheduled inaugural nations championship in the 2026 article but when it began a [importance?] was added
how? ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 05:18, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- how did u put that nations championship in the 2026 article, only to get [importance?] when it began? ~2026-31288-76 (talk) 10:43, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
United States Semiquincentennial
[edit]It seems like there's been some edit warring on this topic previously, so I would just like to ask whether we may include any details on this event here? It is an event of global importance, current relevance, and the bicentennial is listed on the '76 page. I believe it should be, but I will not spar with anyone myself! I appreciate your time and feedback, all. ~2026-40564-13 (talk) 20:08, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Exclude: Anniversaries are not notable events. The consensus on this is pretty strong. --McSly (talk) 20:46, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Anniversaries are not notable events on their own, but the celebrations of them can be. United States Semiquincentennial is certainly a notable event, and as such belongs in 2026 in the United States. I don't think it's significant enough on a global scale to be included here, though. -- irn (talk) 22:17, 20 July 2026 (UTC)
- Exclude. We don't include anniversaries on main year pages. This one is fine to include on 2026 in the United States, where it's already been posted. Wjfox2005 (talk) 18:06, 21 July 2026 (UTC)
- Exclude per consensus PaulRKil (talk) 14:16, 23 July 2026 (UTC)
Notability?
[edit]@Wjfox2005 Hello! I would like to ask what the reasoning behind this revert was.
I am assuming because there is a more specific timeline page for this topic? I can't find a notability guideline for year pages, and I would like to know why because I want to contribute more to this page. 2kbfloppadisk (talk) 10:16, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- These types of operations happen frequently, as part of the ongoing conflict, so it's nothing really new. And the casualties, while obviously tragic, are small in number (six deaths). Likewise, "tens of arrests" isn't notable for 2026. If we were talking dozens of deaths, and hundreds of arrests, there'd be more of a case for inclusion. Yes, by all means post it on the more specific timeline – I wouldn't object to it being there at all. Wjfox2005 (talk) 17:59, 30 July 2026 (UTC)
- agree. Should not be included. _-_Alsor ⭐️⭐️ (talk) 21:38, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
The Spain Morocco border situation?
[edit]Is the migrants crossing spainish border illegally and over 10k involved worthy enough for the wiki list? Since a lot of people are involved and around 40 has died within a day ~2026-42393-88 (talk) 13:45, 31 July 2026 (UTC)
- Include. Yes, I think it probably deserves a mention, given the number of people involved, the number of deaths, the international aspect, and prominent coverage on BBC News, etc. Wjfox2005 (talk) 08:53, 1 August 2026 (UTC)
- Include. This is important. Ilov3gam3z (talk) 17:00, 15 August 2026 (UTC)
Request to block user, or prevent 2026 being edited by temporary accounts
[edit]This user is constantly trying to add a bunch of unnecessary text about the 2026 Ceuta migrant crisis on the 30 July entry. Other users, including me, have previously reverted his/her edits, but he/she keeps adding them back again. I've already posted an edit war notification on his/her Talk Page, which has already been ignored. I would like to request that this user be blocked from editing 2026. Wjfox2005 (talk) 18:20, 29 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Wjfox2005 WP:ANI would be the right place if all else were to fail. Personally I'd advise trying to engage with them on this talk page and explain to them why the text is unnecessary. If they don't respond and they keep refusing to communicate then ANI would be the place to go Firestar464 (talk) 02:13, 30 August 2026 (UTC)

Pictures
[edit]It's currently September 2026. Why aren't there pictures on the article if a significant portion of 2026 has already passed? I think it would make sense to insert some pictures right now. Masterlet 08:45, 11 September 2026 (UTC)
Bangsamoro Election
[edit]This entry was added by @Yivan000: and refined by @Wjfox2005: for September 14.
- Bangsamoro holds its first parliamentary election in the Philippines, marking a milestone in the peace process following decades of separatist conflict.
I'm conflicted on if this should be in the main article, but I'm open to discussion. To me it is more suited to 2026 in the Philippines instead of the main year article. Unless this became a separate region like Somaliland is in Somalia, I would be more open, but I don't think that is the case. Yivan000 mentioned that this is a development regarding the separatist conflict in that region which I am imagining is the Moro Conflict, if it is a significant development in that conflict it may be worth making the entry in relation to that instead.PaulRKil (talk) 12:35, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
Mistake!
[edit]Excuse me… the year is 2026 and NOT 2001. Someone just made a terrible mistake! ~2026-51017-45 (talk) 16:11, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
Done Thanks! -- irn (talk) 16:23, 21 September 2026 (UTC)
Consideration of regulations regarding events.
[edit]Notable things are worthy enough to be mentioned but I dont think EACH AND EVERY detail or smaller details regarding conflicts need to be mentioned, nor do some smaller cases. I suggest for some suggestions and discussion regarding what the events area of the article shall include. Because it seems that very small events are also getting their place and we need events with notable IMPORTANCE to be kept here, not everyday things. Kgeo2.0 (talk) 10:19, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
