1991 was the year that professional snooker was thrown "open" to all-comers who stumped up the requisite subscriptions and tournament entry fees. The response was enormous! (which was a gripping World Championship at the Crucible,having a bit of everything in it):

The first stage was pre-qualifying,which was very successfully divided between three clubs at Aldershot, Bolton and Sheffield and played on 20th – 24th July 1991:
