Seemanta Engineering College (SEC) is a private engineering college in Jharpokharia, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, India. The college was established in 1997 and is affiliated with Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT). Government of Odisha records list the institution at Mayur Vihar, Jharpokharia, Mayurbhanj.[1][2]
History
[edit]Seemanta Engineering College was established in 1997 under the Seemanta Mahavidyalaya Samiti. The Samiti was established in 1978–79 and was associated with the development of educational institutions in the region.[3]
The 2013–14 institutional brochure describes Seemanta Engineering College as a project of the Seemanta Mahavidyalaya Samiti and gives 1997 as the year of establishment.[3]
Paresh Chandra Basa is identified as the founder associated with the Seemanta educational institutions. An independent interview published by AffairsCloud records an alumnus identifying Late Paresh Chandra Basa as the founder of Seemanta Engineering College.[4]

[edit]The college is located at Mayur Vihar, P.O. Jharpokharia, Mayurbhanj district, Odisha, PIN 757086, according to the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha.[1]
The college's 2013–14 brochure describes its location as being in the foothills of the Similipal region of Mayurbhanj.[3]

Government of Odisha admission material lists undergraduate engineering programmes at the college, including Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.[5]
The college's published institutional information also lists Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering among its engineering programmes, as well as postgraduate programmes in engineering and Master of Computer Applications (MCA).[6]
