National November (NN; Spanish: Noviembre Nacional) is a Spanish far-right political party, formerly operating as a political group named National Nucleus (Spanish: Núcleo Nacional).[1][2][3] The National Nucleus was founded by far-right participants of the 2023–2024 Spanish protests against Catalan amnesty and has been officially registered in the National Registry of Associations of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior since August 2024.[4] In 2026, National Nucleus formed a political party called National November.

History

[edit]

National Nucleus

[edit]

National Nucleus (NN) was formed during the 2023–2024 Spanish protests against Catalan amnesty by right-wing extremist sector of protesters and their social media supporters. "National November" is the name of protests used by the far right.[5][6] Many of NN members come from groups such as Bastión Frontal [es], Ultras Sur [es], Skin Moncloa, FE de las JONS.[7]

The group made its first appearance at an event held on 14 April 2024, at Espacio Ardemans, although it had been active on Telegram since January of that year.[8]

National November

[edit]

Since 10 February 2026, National Nucleus has registered as a political party with the Ministry of the Interior under the name National November, based in Valladolid.[9] The political party is chaired by Enrique Lemus, former leader of the far-right National Democracy party.[10][11]

In early July 2026, Iván Rico Olivares, spokesperson for the National Nucleus group and a Holocaust denier, publicly announced the formation of a political party called National November, with the aim of "fighting for their ideas using the tools of the 1978 regime." Unlike on other occasions, in this appearance the group leaders fully revealed their faces.[3] His brother, David Rico, also appeared in the announcement video.[9]

The group announced that on 11 July they would present their proposal at their headquarters in Madrid, called "El Nido" ("The Nest") in reference to the Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest) in Berchtesgaden, Adolf Hitler's retreat.[3] The group made public their dress code for the occasion, formal and casual wear, with no "frills" or flip-flops or tank tops. They also urged people to buy their clothing from the group's shop, where some of the items feature Nazi imagery, such as a Hello Kitty dressed as Hitler.[12]

Among those present at the 11 July event were David and Iván Rico, Enrique Lemus, and Isabel Peralta, leader of neo-Nazi activist group Bastión Frontal [es], who was sentenced to a year in prison for inciting violence against immigrants. Peralta was also deported from a German airport for carrying the Nazi flag, which is illegal in the country.[12] Alberto Pugilato, a member of the skinhead movement, was also present. Pugilato had previously been sentenced to a year in prison and fined €1,800 for a hate crime related to promoting white supremacy. Pedro Jesús Espada, a councilor in the Velilla de San Antonio City Council, was present wearing the NN uniform.[13]

Ideology

[edit]

According to its own website, the party claims to defend the promotion of birth rates, the traditional family, national identity, and the protection of European culture. It also expresses its opposition to queer theory and maintains that men and women play distinct roles within the family. In religious matters, it expresses its support for Christianity and rejects atheism, although it declares its respect for freedom of worship "as long as it does not contradict the interests of Spain". It also states that it does not admit non-European members. In the economic sphere, it proposes measures favorable to entrepreneurship and the improvement of working conditions for Spanish workers. It defends the unity of Spain, opposes separatism, and asserts that there are international elites seeking to divide Spanish society. In environmental matters, it proposes the protection of nature and biodiversity and advocates for greater engagement with rural areas.[14]

The party was described by several media outlets as xenophobic, ultranationalist, and possessing an ideology that bears several similarities to Nazi and fascist principles.[15] According to the Spanish Revolution [es], NN's discourse is characterized by its opposition to democracy and the dissemination of conspiracy theories such as the Great Replacement and Holocaust denial.[16] NN have labeled Moroccan immigration an "invasion," proposing an "active defense" of the streets,[17] which has led several national media outlets to consider these proposals as hate speech. Like the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, NN also promotes the "remigration" of migrants.[18]

According to various media outlets, the group has alluded to violence on several occasions and has been accused of verbal attacks against various groups, including non-European immigrants, Jews, Muslims, the LGBT community, feminists, and others. The group had also expressed opposition to globalization and international organizations such as NATO and the European Union.[19][20][21]

Controversies

[edit]

On 28 January 2026, three members of the group were arrested by the Civil Guard in Castellón and Burriana, accused of hate crimes, after allegedly carrying out an attack with racist and Islamophobic graffiti and neo-Nazi stickers against the business of a man of Moroccan origin in Burriana.[22]

On 8 March 2026, 10 members of the organization were arrested in Madrid for public disorder, and one for assaulting the authorities, after attempting to disrupt a feminist demonstration on International Women's Day with anti-feminist and racist slogans, and provoking a subsequent confrontation with the police.[23][24]

During the 2026s May Day demonstration in Madrid, in the Lavapiés neighborhood, 5 people from the group (one of them a minor) were arrested for public disorder and illegal possession of weapons.[25]
