Logomo is an old VR machine shop and a current cultural venue in Turku in close proximity to the Turku railway station. The building was opened in 2011 as a part of the Turku European Capital of Culture festivities.

The building includes galleries, stages, a restaurant, as well as working spaces for businesses and artists. The Logomo centre, Byrå and Konttori facilities house more than 400 working employees and over 70 companies.[3] Logomo received the Ekokompassi environmental certification in 2023, joined the City of Turku's climate partnership network in 2024, and was awarded Visit Finland's Sustainable Travel Finland label in 2025.[4][5]

The oldest part of the building was built in 1876 as a machine shop for the state railway monopoly VR. Since then, it has been expanded several times and in 2011 it was renovated to function as the main venue for the Turku European Capital of Culture festivities. The opening exhibitions were: "Alice in Wonderland" photographic display, Tom of Finland retrospective, "Only a game?" football themed exhibition by UEFA, video installations by Eija-Liisa Ahtila and Isaac Julien, and an exhibition on fire by Heureka "Fire!Fire!".[6]

Ownership and management

The Logomo property is owned by Logomon Tapahtumatilat Oy, which is 51% owned by the City of Turku and 49% by Sunborn Events Oy, part of the Sunborn group.[1][2] Operations are run by Logomo Oy, which is wholly owned by Sunborn Events. Sunborn Events became the majority shareholder of Logomo Oy in November 2020 after acquiring the holdings of the construction company Hartela, and acquired the City of Turku's remaining 39% stake in September 2022.[1][2][7]

In August 2025, Logomo Oy acquired the trade fair business of Turun Messukeskus Oy, moving Turku's major fairs – including the Turku Book Fair – to Logomo.[8]

Mikko Manninen, previously executive director of Music Finland, became CEO of Logomo Oy in January 2026.[9][10]

Events

Logomo hosts a variety of conferences, concerts and other events. It served as the temporary home of the Turku City Theatre while the theatre's own building was renovated, until the autumn of 2017.

Logomo has also served as the location of television series such as: The Voice of Finland,[11] The Voice Kids,[12] and Finland's national selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest, Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, in 2019, 2022[13] and 2023.[14]

In 2016 Logomo housed over 1000 different events, with more than 369,000 visitors passing through its doors.[3] The number of visitors has been growing consecutively for five years now.[15]

In 2023, Logomo hosted more than a thousand events with a combined total of over 300,000 visitors.[16]

The Nordic countries' Michelin Guide star revelation ceremony was held at Logomo on 12 June 2023, the first time the event was hosted in Finland.[17][16]

Since 2017, Logomo has also housed the event restaurant and live music venue Teatro.[18]

In the summer of 2026, Logomo hosted Frameless, an immersive art exhibition from London, from 8 June to 30 August 2026 – the first time the exhibition was staged outside the United Kingdom.[10][19]

Development

A new station service and parking facility, LogoHub, is under construction next to Logomo on the Turku rail yard. Developed by LogoHub Oy, part of the Sunborn group, the building will house station services for rail passengers – including facilities for taxi and drop-off traffic, park-and-ride parking, electric vehicle charging, a car rental service, and bicycle parking.[20] Construction began in October 2025, and the five-storey building – with approximately 400 parking spaces and a convenience store – is scheduled to open in spring 2027.[21]
