Club Hassania Lazerac Oujda (نادي حسنية لازاري وجدة), commonly known as HL Oujda, Hassania Lazaret, is a Moroccan association football club based in the Lazaret district of Oujda, in the Oriental of eastern Morocco.[1] The club competes in the Amateurs I, the fourth tier of the Moroccan football league system.[2]
History
[edit source]Early Years and Regional Rise
[edit source]Founded in 1978 in the densely populated working-class neighborhood of Lazaret in Oujda, Hassania Lazaret Oujda was established to provide an athletic framework for local youth and foster grassroots football alongside the city's flagship club, MC Oujda.[3]
The club spent several decades competing in the regional divisions administered by the Ligue de l'Oriental de Football before steadily rising through the national amateur pyramid governed by the Ligue Nationale du Football Amateur (LNFA).
Promotion to Amateur National (2022–2026)
[edit source]The 2021–22 season marked a major milestone in HLO's history. Competing in Amateurs I, Hassania Lazaret finished at the top of the North Group, securing direct historic promotion to the third-tier Amateur National for the 2022–23 campaign.[4]
Since its promotion, HL Oujda has established itself as a staple of the national third division, hosting fixtures against prominent amateur and former professional clubs across Morocco.[5]
Moroccan Throne Cup Performance
[edit source]Hassania Lazaret Oujda has regularly featured in the national rounds of the Moroccan Throne Cup. During the 2023–24 Throne Cup edition, HLO reached the Round of 32, hosting top-flight Botola team Maghreb Fez at the Stade d'Honneur in Oujda on 28 March 2024.[6][7]
Stadium
[edit source]HL Oujda plays its home matches at the Stade Angad (ملعب أنجاد), situated in the Lazaret district of Oujda.[8] The stadium features an artificial turf pitch and has a seating capacity of approximately 1,500 spectators. For high-profile fixtures, including major Throne Cup ties, the club occasionally utilizes the city's main venue, the Stade d'Honneur.
