Glitz is a French biweekly investigative magazine specialized in the luxury sector. It was created in 2022 and is published online in English and French by Indigo Publications.

History

[edit]

The investigative magazine was created in late September 2022.[1] The ad-free publication is available by subscription only. Its frequency is weekly, but the title hopes to reach a daily publication rhythm.[2]

In September 2024, Bernard Arnault, CEO of LVMH, added the title to a list of seven media outlets whose staff LVMH executives are absolutely forbidden from speaking to, under penalty of dismissal.[3][4][5]

In 2025, the media outlet took legal action after being targeted by several denial-of-service cyberattacks.[6]

Editorial staff

[edit]

The editorial team is led by Philippe Vasset, an investigative novelist and journalist, and former editor-in-chief at Indigo Publications.[2]

Editorial line

[edit]

Glitz is an investigative media outlet.[7] According to the publisher, it covers "with complete freedom the small and big secrets of the global luxury community".[2] Its editor-in-chief states "We created Glitz to cover the luxury industry differently, without going through the highly choreographed channels of official communication. (...) We remain neutral, we do a detailed right of reply on each article, and we have no bias, neither pro nor anti-luxury".[8]

The Institut national de l'audiovisuel noted in 2023 that Glitz is, in France, the first investigative media outlet specialized in the luxury sector. Its investigations are classified into three sections: "Families", "Houses", "Entourage". Investigating an industry that locks down its communication and knows how to leverage the advertising revenue that sustains press titles requires rules of caution, particularly regarding source protection[9].
