Yoonchae Jeung (Korean: 정윤채; born December 6, 2007), also known as Yoonchae Jeong and mononymously as Yoonchae, is a South Korean singer based in Los Angeles, California. She is a member of the girl group Katseye, which debuted on June 28, 2024, under Hybe and Geffen Records, after competing in the global reality show Dream Academy in 2023.[1][2]
Early life
[edit]Yoonchae Jeung was born on December 6, 2007, in Seoul, South Korea.[3] She has an older sister, who taught her how to do makeup.[4]
Career
[edit]2019–2023: Pre-debut
[edit]Jeung became a K-pop trainee at the age of 12.[3] She spent two years at WakeOne before transferring to Hybe in 2023.[3]
2023–present: Dream Academy and debut with Katseye
[edit]In 2023, Jeung participated as one of twenty contestants in The Debut: Dream Academy, the global audition program by Hybe and Geffen Records.[1][2][5] She placed fourth overall and became a member of Katseye.[1][2][5] The group debuted on June 28, 2024, with the single "Debut", which was included in their first EP SIS (Soft Is Strong).[6]
On December 25, 2025, Jeung performed a special collaboration stage with TXT's Yeonjun at the SBS Gayo Daejeon, performing "Let Me Tell You" and "Talk to You"[7]. The performance received positive attention for showcasing her stage presence.[7]
Public image and artistic development
[edit]Jeung has received attention for her makeup style.[4] In May 2025, Teen Vogue featured her in an article explaining her viral blush technique, which involves applying blush directly under the eyes for a youthful effect.[4] This look became a popular trend on social media.[4]
In an August 2025 interview with Billboard Philippines, more than a year after Katseye's debut, Jeung discussed her journey toward embracing confidence and authenticity as a performer, saying she was initially drawn to K-pop by her passion for performing rather than the genre's production or choreography, and credited her bandmates with helping her come out of her shell.[5]
In December 2025, Jeung was included in Teen Vogue's 50 Best Dressed of 2025 list, which honored best dressed celebrities of the year aged 21 and below.[8]
In a joint cover story for Allure, Jeung was described by her bandmates as the group's "bridge to the K-pop world".[9] In the same interview, Jeung reflected on the personal difficulty of adapting to life in the United States after moving from South Korea, saying, "Making my new version of Yoonchae for America was very hard to do and it's still hard".[9]

[edit]As a contestant of Dream Academy, Jeung participated in the promotional release of the contestants' shared songs for competition. It was performed on November 17, 2023, and released to streaming platforms on August 21, 2024.[6]
