Draft:Way Down Cellar

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Way Down Cellar is a 1968 American television film produced by Walt Disney Productions, based on the 1942 book of the same name by Phil Stong.[1][2] A revised Walt Disney Productions shooting script dated June 12, 1967, documents the film's production.[3]

Directed by Robert Totten, it originally aired in two parts on NBC's Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color on January 7 and January 14, 1968.[4][5]

The plot follows three boys who discover a secret tunnel beneath a destroyed church that leads to a supposedly haunted house. They soon discover that the house is being used by a gang of counterfeiters and attempt to expose the criminals without being caught themselves.[6][7][8]

A contemporary television listing described the first installment as a children's adventure about a new boy in town who joins two other boys in investigating a mysterious house and tunnel.[9] The film was later rebroadcast, including a two-part showing in June 1972.[10]
