History
[edit]Ubisoft Bucharest was founded in Bucharest in 1992, as a tiny studio, consisting of a few talented programmers and artists. The first projects were small, focusing on educational games and small-scale titles for PC platforms.[5]
Since the 2000's, Ubisoft Bucharest has been experiencing a period of rapid development. It began working on bigger games, and participating in cooperation projects with other Ubisoft studios all over the world. In the 2000's Ubisoft Bucharest launched several popular games, among them there is Silent Hunter III, a submarine simulator series highly acclaimed by critics and gamers.[6][7] Ubisoft Bucharest also played a important role in the development of successful franchises such as Assassin's Creed and Tom Clancy's HAWX.[8]
Over the past decade, Ubisoft Bucharest has become a key part of Ubisoft's studios, operating as a massive support studio. They work on almost all of Ubisoft's series including Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs and The Division. Ubisoft Bucharest mostly works on various different stages of production such as gameplay systems, content creation, and technical support for various titles.[9] The team in Romania has also been involved in the development and optimization of game technologies, including graphics engines and development tools.[10]
