History
[edit]ToolJet was founded in April 2021 by Navaneeth Padanna Kalathil. The initial version was developed within two months and publicly launched on Hacker News and Reddit in June 2021, where it gained over 1,000 GitHub stars within its first eight hours.[1]
In January 2023, ToolJet raised US $4.6 million in a pre-Series A funding round led by Nexus Venture Partners, following an initial US $1.55 million seed round.[2] In July 2023, strategic investments from M12 (Microsoft’s Venture Fund) and GitHub increased the company’s total funding to approximately US$7.65 million.[3]
In November 2024, ToolJet released version 3.0, signaling a shift toward AI-native functionality.[4] As of late 2025, the platform reported over 36,000 GitHub stars and more than 600 community contributors.[5]
