Sangeetha Varma is an Indian music director,composer, lyricist and playback singer associated with the Malayalam film industry. She has composed music for recordings featuring playback singers K. J. Yesudas and S. P. Balasubrahmanyam.[1] She made her film-music-direction debut with the Malayalam film Cleopatra in 2012.[2][3]

EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION

Sangeetha Varma was born in Thrippunithura, Kerala. She was introduced to music by her father, Kochappan Thampuran, who was her first guru. She subsequentlt trained under musicians including Dr. K. Omanakutty, Padma Narayanan and the late Tripunithura S. K. Subramanian[4][5]

She holds a postgraduate degree in Music from the Government College for Woman in Thiruvananthapuram[4][5].

CAREER

Varma began working as a music director for telefilms in the early 2000s. Her early credits included the telefilms Ente Onam[4] and Malayalanaadu[4]. She subsequently worked on music albums and devotional recordings.

Her recorded works include "Vande Mataram", a multilingual composition released in the 2004[4]. The composition was broadcast by All India Radio.

Varma subsequently worked on music for films and television productions. Her film credits include "Cleopatra" (2012). She has also received playback-singing credits for films including "Orkut Oru Ormakoodu" and "Dr. Innocentanu"[4]

She has also received credits as a lyricist and composer for television and independent music projects, including the song "Engum Pakaliravil" for the telefilm "The Identity".[6]
