Purple Group, legally Purple Holding a.s., is a Czech financial technology group based in Brno. Founded by David Kašper, Filip Řehoř and Jakub Nytra, it develops trading and payments technology and operates retail brokerage, proprietary trading evaluation, payments and venture capital businesses.[1][2] Its brands include the broker Purple Trading, the prop trading evaluation platform Fintokei and the venture capital fund Purple Ventures.[3] In 2025 the group had about 250 employees and annual revenue of around CZK 2 billion, most of it generated outside Europe.[2][4]

History

[edit]

The three founders met as secondary-school students and began trading on financial markets in 2006 and 2007, initially focusing on automated trading systems.[2] Czech media date their activity in the brokerage industry to 2007,[3][5] while the group itself was started in 2011, when the founders began building their own brokerage technology instead of relying on third-party brokers.[2][4]

In 2013 the company nearly went bankrupt after growing to about 40 employees within a year. It laid off around two-thirds of its staff, and some of the remaining employees received small equity stakes.[2] According to Forbes, the business became reliably profitable after 2015.[4] The group first obtained a brokerage licence in Belize, and in 2016 it acquired an existing investment firm in Cyprus in order to serve clients in the European Union.[2]

In its early years the group supplied trading infrastructure to other companies, including the Czech prop trading firm FTMO.[3] It began building Fintokei in 2022.[3] In 2026 Purple Technology launched Axiory.ai, a trading platform based on AI agents, together with the broker Axiory,[6] and in September 2026 the group launched Hello Purple.[7]

Operations

[edit]

Technology and brokerage

[edit]

Purple Technology develops the trading systems used within the group and by external brokers. In 2023 its technology was used by clients in dozens of countries and processed more than 400,000 trades a day.[3] The group offers brokerage services in the Czech Republic and other EU countries under the Purple Trading brand, focusing on contracts for difference (CFDs).[2] Outside the EU, which accounts for most of its revenue, it operates a trading platform under the Axiory brand. In 2025 Kašper put the group's combined client base at several hundred thousand, not all of them active.[2]

Fintokei

[edit]

Fintokei is a prop trading evaluation platform: traders pay a fee to trade a simulated account and receive a share of the profits if they meet set performance rules. It launched first in Japan, where the group already supplied brokerage technology to local partners, and was then introduced in the Czech Republic.[3]

Payments

[edit]

Through its Purple Next division, the group develops payment services, including the card acceptance service PayPipes and Walletory, an e-money application in Singapore.[3][2]

Purple Ventures

[edit]

Purple Ventures is the group's venture capital arm. Its first fund was set up in 2019, and the founders and other shareholders gradually transferred €15 million into it.[4] In 2024 a second fund was opened to external investors, with the aim of investing about CZK 1 billion in around 60 early-stage start-ups over four years; the group itself committed about CZK 350 million.[5] Portfolio companies have included Tatum, Hedepy, Campiri and Delta Green.[3][5]

Hello Purple

[edit]

In September 2026 the group launched Hello Purple, a division that offers its trading and payments infrastructure to developers and companies building financial applications. It is led by Jan Červinka, chief executive of Purple Technology.[7][8] The platform is not itself a broker and does not hold client funds; regulated services are provided by licensed companies within the group.[8] Its first application, Takumis, turns a trading idea described to an AI system into a strategy, backtests it on historical data and allows deployment through a supported broker.[8]

Corporate affairs

[edit]

The three founders hold a majority stake; in 2024 Forbes reported that they owned about three-quarters of the company.[4][2] Kašper serves as chief executive.[2] In 2024 the group had more than 200 employees on four continents, with offices in Cyprus, Dubai and Singapore and about 180 staff in Brno and Prague.[4] About 95 per cent of its revenue came from customers outside the Czech Republic.[4]

CzechCrunch reported annual revenue of around CZK 2 billion and profits in the low hundreds of millions of koruna in 2025.[2] The accounts filed by the Czech holding company show only part of this: for 2021 they reported revenue of CZK 264 million and a small loss.[3]

Reception

[edit]

Czech business media have described the group as little known in its home country despite its size.[1][9] Its main products have drawn criticism that is common to their sectors. Some in the investment industry regard CFD trading as closer to a casino than to an exchange; Kašper told CzechCrunch that he partly understood the objection, particularly with regard to some Asian clients, but rejected it overall. He also said that looser regulation outside Europe allowed the group to run bonus campaigns there that are prohibited in Europe.[2] Prop trading firms have been criticised as "financial casinos" that earn mainly from entry fees; Fintokei's co-founder David Varga said that about four in five participants do not reach real profits.[3]
