Prungsak Chaowachart (Thai: ปรุงศักดิ์ เชาวน์ชาติ) is a Thai lawyer and legal researcher. Thai news outlets have quoted him on digital-asset regulation, artificial intelligence and copyright, and the treatment of digital assets after death.[1][2][3]
Career and research
[edit]Chaowachart is the managing partner of ABER Group, a law firm in Thailand.[4][5] In its 2021 coverage, InfoQuest described him as an ABER Group partner and an arbitrator specializing in digital assets at the Thailand Arbitration Center.[1] A December 2023 press release distributed through ThaiPR listed him among the legal and digital-asset specialists on a panel about fintech disputes at the Future Fintech 2024 event.[6]
In 2026, Chaowachart published legal research on the nominee offence under Thailand's Foreign Business Act, cyberstalking law, and the regulation of medical artificial intelligence. The nominee-law article lists him as affiliated with Bangkok University.[7][8][9]
Public commentary
[edit]In December 2021, InfoQuest reported Chaowachart's comments on a Securities and Exchange Commission consultation concerning decentralized finance and on the possible application of price-ceiling and price-floor rules to cryptocurrency markets.[1] In August 2022, The MATTER cited his research in an explainer about social-media accounts and digital assets after a person's death.[3] In December 2022, Amarin TV's Spotlight interviewed him about the legal consequences of Zipmex's proposed agreement for returning customer assets, including waivers of claims, creditor status and Singapore arbitration.[10] In July 2024, InfoQuest published an interview with him about artificial intelligence and copyright law.[2]
Political activity
[edit]In 2022, Chaowachart stood as a candidate for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council in Bang Kho Laem district for the Rak Bangkok group. NationTV reported on his campaign activity during a community fire and quoted his comments about fire-prevention policy.[11] On 19 May 2022, he joined two other council candidates in a workpointTODAY discussion covering the council's functions, public transport, district budgets and quality-of-life policy.[12]
