Proverbs 31 Ministries is a non-denominational, nonprofit Christian ministry headquartered in Matthews, North Carolina. It offers online Christian resources to women including, daily devotions, podcasts, a Bible study app, and faith-based writer's training.[1]
History
[edit]The organization began in 1992 as a monthly newsletter titled The Proverbs 31 Homemaker.[2][3] The organization describes its mission as working toward the eradication of what it calls "biblical poverty", defined as the condition of having physical access to the Bible while lacking the confidence to personally engage with it.[4]
Programs
[edit]Proverbs 31 Ministries includes several ongoing ministries.[1][5]
- Encouragement for Today daily devotions.
- First 5 App: A Bible study mobile app with daily biblical teaching and in depth studies of books of the Bible.
- COMPEL Pro Writers Training: A membership-based program offering professional instruction for writers and communicators.[6][4]
- She Speaks Conference: An annual conference for women pursuing speaking, writing, or leadership.[7][8]
Encouragement for Today
[edit]Encouragement for Today devotions are published via email, the Proverbs 31 Ministries website, and external platforms including BibleGateway and Crosswalk.com.
First 5 App
[edit]The First 5 app launched in July 2015. The first content featured in the app was a study of the Gospel of John.[9]
The app delivers daily teachings that progress through one verse per chapter each day. Each daily teaching includes scripture reading, a prayer prompt, and an optional extended section called "More Moments," which offers additional commentary.[10][11]
Financials
[edit]The Internal Revenue Service recognized the organization as a nonprofit in 1997.[12] In 2021 Proverbs 31 Ministries was listed among North Carolina ministries with annual revenue greater than $5-million.[13]
The organization has received a four-star rating (out of 4 stars) from the monitoring organization Charity Navigator.[14]
The organization has received a Platinum Seal of Transparency from the monitoring organization Candid.[4]
