OnlyRoses is a British rose retailer founded in London in 2007 by Anian and Sabine Schmitt. It sells fresh-cut roses and preserved roses under the Infinite Roses name.[1][2] In 2019, the company supplied roses for the stage design of the 91st Academy Awards.[3]

History

[edit]

OnlyRoses began in London in 2007 as a retailer specialising in roses.[1][2] By 2017, it had expanded through franchise locations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh and Kuwait City.[2] Trade publication FloralDaily reported that the company's Abu Dhabi store at Nation Towers was its largest at the time.[4]

In 2017, OnlyRoses established a retail presence in Beverly Hills, California. Interior Design reported that the approximately 550-square-foot boutique was designed by Italian firm Baciocchi Associati.[5][1]

Products

[edit]

OnlyRoses sells fresh-cut roses and preserved roses marketed as Infinite Roses. In a 2018 article, Vogue reported that the roses were sourced from farms near Quito, Ecuador. Co-founder Sabine Schmitt told the magazine that the heads and stems of the preserved roses were treated separately before being reassembled.[1]

2019 Academy Awards

[edit]

Production designer David Korins incorporated approximately 40,000 red roses supplied by OnlyRoses into scenic elements for the 91st Academy Awards, including floral interpretations of the Oscar statuette.[3] Korins also discussed the installation in an interview with Interior Design.[6] Ecuadorian newspaper El Universo reported that the roses came from Ecuador.[7]
