Comment: Most of the sources are based on what they say so not useful for notability. Also, multiple articles by the same author/publication are generally considered a single source. Reuters makes no mention of them so should not be used nor another other sources that do mention the company. S0091 (talk) 17:41, 30 September 2026 (UTC)

Omnissa is an American enterprise software company that makes endpoint management and virtual desktop software.[1][2] It was formed from VMware's End-User Computing division after Broadcom acquired VMware and sold the division to KKR.[3][1] It began operating independently on July 1, 2024.[4] The company's main product lines are Workspace ONE and Horizon.[1]
History
[edit]Broadcom completed its acquisition of VMware in November 2023. In February 2024 Broadcom agreed to sell the End-User Computing division to KKR for approximately $4 billion.[3] The division's products included Workspace ONE (endpoint management) and Horizon (virtual desktops). VMware's desktop hypervisors, Workstation and Fusion, were not part of the sale.[1]
Launch
[edit]The End-User Computing division adopted the Omnissa name in spring 2024 while the sale was pending.[5] The sale closed on July 1, 2024, with a company headcount of about 4,000 employees at launch.[6][1] KKR said it would put in place its employee ownership program at Omnissa.[4] The company said it would develop "AI-infused" workspaces it described as self-healing, self-configuring, and self-securing.[2] However, according to The Register's reporting on the new company's plans, details and a time frame were not provided.[2]
Products
[edit]Workspace ONE is a unified endpoint management product, originally AirWatch, which was renamed in 2018.[1] Omnissa Horizon is a desktop and application virtualization product, formerly VMware Horizon.[1] In January 2026, Gartner placed Omnissa in the Leaders quadrant of its Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Management Tools.[7] In August 2025 Gartner placed Omnissa in the Leaders quadrant of its Magic Quadrant for Desktop as a Service.[8] In 2025 the company expanded into server management and support for non-VMware hypervisors.[9]
Reception
[edit]In August 2024 Gartner analysts advised VMware EUC customers to conduct risk assessments and plan for contingencies, citing Omnissa's lack of detailed product roadmaps and the dependence on Broadcom for underlying VMware licensing.[10] Gartner's January 2026 Magic Quadrant reported that the ownership changes caused disruption to service and sales while Workspace ONE pricing was at the higher end among vendors evaluated.[7] A March 2026 Virtualization Review assessment stated that VMware references were removed from Horizon's file paths, services, and registry, which created additional migration work for administrators. The article stated that since the separation from Broadcom, the pace at which new Horizon features are released has increased along with the quality of support.[11]
Leadership
[edit]Shankar Iyer was CEO from the company's launch in July 2024.[6][2] In September 2026, Iyer was succeeded by Amit Singh, previously president of Palo Alto Networks and a co-founder of Google Cloud.[12]
