Comment: It's pretty clear from the edit summary that you asked your LLM to rewrite this. Since LLM text is not allowed on Wikipedia, that approach does not work. Use your own words, please. If there really are multiple reviews as mentioned in the lead paragraph, cite them. Just vaguely saying they exist is useless. M kuhner (talk) 04:55, 3 August 2026 (UTC)

MyNetDiary is a mobile app and website for calorie counting and nutrition tracking.[1] It has been reviewed by The New York Times[2] and Women's Health,[1] among other publications.
History
[edit]MyNetDiary was founded in December 2005 by Sergey Oreshko and Vasili Smaliak.[3] In an interview with Refresh Miami, Oreshko said he was influenced by the release of Google Maps and its interactive interface when thinking about how nutrition tracking software could work.[3]
The service launched on the web in 2007 and as a mobile app in 2008.[4] According to Refresh Miami, the company is based in Boca Raton, Florida, and had about 30 employees across the United States and Europe in 2025.[3] The same report said MyNetDiary had more than 28 million registered users as of 2025.[3]
In August 2025, the company launched PlateAI, a separate app focused on AI-based food logging and nutrition coaching.[5]
Reception
[edit]A 2013 study published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine examined 30 popular weight-loss apps for their use of behavioral strategies from the CDC's Diabetes Prevention Program. MyNetDiary received the highest score in the group, at 65%. The study also found it had no tools for stress management, relapse prevention, or nutrition-label reading.[6]
In a 2019 review published by Women's Health, registered dietitian Jacqueline Gomes Sgherza called the app user-friendly and a good fit for people new to food tracking. She also stressed that results depend on accurate logging.[1]
The New York Times reviewed the app alongside other calorie trackers in 2014.[2] It has also appeared in rankings by Forbes Health,[7] U.S. News & World Report,[8] and Today's Dietitian.[9]
A 2025 systematic review published in the journal Body Image found that users of diet and fitness tracking apps reported higher levels of disordered eating symptoms than non-users. The authors noted that most evidence was cross-sectional and that no causal conclusions could be drawn.[10]
