Murzilli Consulting is a Swiss aviation consultancy specialising in regulatory, technical and strategic consulting across the aviation sector, with a particular focus on uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), advanced air mobility, airspace and emerging aviation technologies.[1] Founded in Bern, Switzerland, in 2020, the company was established by founder and chief executive officer Lorenzo Murzilli, with Eszter Kovács as co-founder.[2]
The consultancy is part of M&K Global AG, a Swiss company whose two business units are Murzilli Consulting and DroneTalks.[3] DroneTalks operates separately as a platform focused on aviation media, events and professional education.
Murzilli Consulting is headquartered in Bern and maintains offices in Berlin, Germany; London, United Kingdom; Budapest, Hungary; Madrid, Spain; and Dublin, Ireland.[4] Through its European offices, the consultancy provides services to organisations internationally.
The company's work covers aviation regulation and compliance, regulatory strategy, airspace and U-space, operational approvals, certification support, flight procedure design and aviation risk assessment.[5] It has participated in aviation research and implementation projects with government authorities, research institutions and private-sector partners, including work concerning the integration of uncrewed aircraft and new forms of air mobility into existing aviation systems.[6][7]
History
[edit]Murzilli Consulting was founded in Bern, Switzerland, in 2020 by Lorenzo Murzilli, with Eszter Kovács as co-founder. Before establishing the consultancy, Lorenzo Murzilli worked in aviation regulation and served as leader of Working Group 6 of the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS), the working group responsible for developing the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) methodology for uncrewed aircraft operations.[8]
Murzilli led the working group during the development of SORA 1.0, published in 2017, and SORA 2.0, published in 2019.[9] SORA was subsequently adopted by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) as an acceptable means of compliance for assessing UAS operations in the specific category under the European regulatory framework.[10] Murzilli's background in UAS regulation and risk assessment subsequently formed part of the regulatory expertise developed within Murzilli Consulting.[11]
The company's early activities focused on regulatory and strategic consulting for emerging aviation technologies, including uncrewed aircraft systems, advanced air mobility and U-space.[5] During its first years of operation, the consultancy expanded beyond Switzerland and developed activities in other European markets. By 2023, Murzilli Consulting had worked with companies developing uncrewed aircraft and related technologies, including Wonder Robotics, ResilienX, AVSS and Fusion Engineering.[5]
In July 2023, Murzilli Consulting entered into a partnership with GENIUS NY, a New York-based accelerator programme specialising in uncrewed systems, robotics and related technologies. The partnership provided regulatory and strategic support to companies participating in the accelerator, including support concerning European aviation regulation and market entry.[5][12]
In 2023, Murzilli Consulting became part of the corporate structure of M&K Global AG. Swiss commercial-register information records the transfer of the assets and liabilities of the original Murzilli Consulting sole proprietorship to M&K Global AG as part of a capital increase.[13] Under the resulting structure, Murzilli Consulting continued as the group's aviation consulting business alongside DroneTalks, which operates as a separate business unit.[3]
In subsequent years, Murzilli Consulting continued to expand its European presence and became involved in regulatory, research and implementation projects with aviation authorities, research organisations and private-sector companies. These included work associated with the UK Civil Aviation Authority, aviation projects in Spain and participation in the U-Space Berlin research project.[14][15]

[edit]Murzilli Consulting provides regulatory, technical and strategic consulting services across the aviation sector, with a particular focus on uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), advanced air mobility (AAM), airspace integration and emerging aviation technologies. Its work includes regulatory approvals and certification, safety and risk assessment, airspace services, technology implementation and organisational support.[4]
A major area of the company's regulatory work concerns the Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA), the methodology developed by the Joint Authorities for Rulemaking on Unmanned Systems (JARUS) for assessing the risks associated with UAS operations. Murzilli Consulting supports operators and other organisations through the SORA process, including the preparation of operational authorisation applications, assessment of ground and air risks, identification of appropriate mitigations and compliance with Operational Safety Objectives (OSOs). The company also provides third-party validation services relating to SORA mitigations and OSOs.[4]
Beyond SORA, the company's regulatory and certification services include Light UAS Operator Certification (LUC), type certification, design verification, U-space and UTM service-provider certification, and UAS C-Class and CE marking.[4] Its regulatory consulting also includes the development of regulatory strategies and roadmaps and liaison with aviation authorities during certification, approval and implementation processes.
Murzilli Consulting provides airspace consulting services covering airspace use, airspace and traffic management, feasibility studies and the integration of new aviation technologies and operations into existing airspace. Its work in this area includes airspace modernisation, air risk management, strategic and technical risk mitigation, technology implementation and the development of U-space environments.[16]
Technical and safety-related services include aircraft and system safety assessment, development assurance, and assurance, safety and quality systems. Aviation cybersecurity forms another area of the company's consulting activities, alongside aviation authority liaison during regulatory, certification and operational approval processes.[4]
The company's services also extend to flight procedure design (FPD), supporting the development and implementation of flight procedures within the applicable aviation regulatory framework. Murzilli Consulting's Spanish entity is certified under ISO 9001:2015 for a scope covering UAS consultancy, the design and delivery of UAS training programmes and Flight Procedure Design.[17]
Other consulting activities include initial project assessments, organisational development, customised aviation industry reports and support for the implementation of new technologies and operational concepts.[4] The company also provides professional aviation training, including courses relating to UAS regulation and SORA, through remote and in-person programmes. Some training activities are provided in cooperation with DroneTalks.[18]
