From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Aaron McFadden (born May 14, 1984) is a former professional American football player in the National Football League, Arena Football League) and Canadian Football League. He is currently an area vice president for Johnson & Johnson Med Tech. He played college football at Grand Valley State University, earning unanimous All-American honors his junior and senior seasons. He signed an un-drafted rookie contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2007 NFL draft. He also played in the AFL for the Grand Rapids Rampage, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL.

Professional football career

[edit]

McFadden began his professional football career in 2007 after signing as an undrafted free agent with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He agreed to a three-year contract valued at $1.7 million. His time in the NFL was brief, as an injury cut his tenure short.[1][2]

Later in 2007, McFadden joined the Grand Rapids Rampage of the Arena Football League (AFL), where he played as a linebacker and served as team captain. During his time with the Rampage (2007–2009), he earned recognition as one of the league’s top defensive players. In 2008, he was named to the AFL All-Rookie Team and the Al Lucas Hero Team for his contributions to the community. That same season, he set a franchise record with three quarterback sacks in a single game.[3][4][5]

In 2009, McFadden signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League (CFL), playing as a defensive end. He showed strong performance early in the season but was again sidelined due to injury. Following his stint with the Tiger-Cats, he retired from professional football.[6]

Early life and education

[edit]

McFadden was born in Flint, Michigan, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. He attended Heritage High School in Saginaw, where he was a multi-sport athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and track and field. As a standout football player, he was considered a top prospect; however, a senior-year injury impacted his recruitment opportunities. He ultimately continued his football career at Grand Valley State University.[7]

Entrepreneurial career

[edit]

In 2010, McFadden founded Elite Preps Live, LLC, a digital media company focused on high school sports coverage in Michigan’s Great Lakes Bay Region. Under his leadership, the company grew into a prominent regional sports publication. He sold the business to High School Sports Scene in 2013.[8]

Executive career

[edit]

Following his entrepreneurial success, McFadden transitioned into the medical technology industry. He currently serves as an area vce president at Johnson & Johnson MedTech, specializing in trauma.[9]

Throughout his tenure, he has been recognized for outstanding performance and leadership. He has earned the company’s prestigious President’s Club honor four times. In 2024 and 2025, he was again named to the President’s Club, and in 2025 he received the Area of the Year award for achieving top sales growth.
