Mathunzi Macdonald is a South African actress, musician, writer, and producer. She has worked across theatre, television advertising, and music since 2010, and is the executive producer and creative director of The Verse Productions.

Early life and education

Macdonald was born in Emalahleni, South Africa, where she began her early education. She later completed her secondary schooling in Pretoria. Initially aspiring to pursue a career in neurosurgery, she changed direction to focus on the performing arts.

Her early exposure to performance and media included time spent in studio environments and participation in stage productions. At a young age, she performed in theatrical productions, including a role as Nancy in Oliver Twist.

Macdonald pursued formal training at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), where she studied Musical Theatre, Jazz, and Popular Music[1]. In 2018, she completed a qualification in Early Childhood Development with a Montessori focus. She has also undertaken studies in communications, entrepreneurship, history, and languages.

Macdonald began working in the entertainment industry in 2010. Her work spans multiple disciplines, including acting, writing, music, and production. She has been involved in television advertising, theatre, and music projects, and has worked as a writer and creative producer.

She is the founder, executive producer, and creative director of The Verse Productions, through which she develops and produces creative projects across various media platforms.
