Lexus Vang (born November 22, 2005) [1] [2] also known mononymously as Lexi is a Hmong American singer. In 2023, she made her debut as leader of group VCHA, which is now known as Girlset.
Lexi is recognized as one of the first individuals of Hmong descent to debut in a major K-pop-affiliated global group.[3] Outside of her rigorous training and performance schedule, Lexi is known for her playful sense of humor, a deep love for fine arts and stop-motion animation like Coraline, and a proud connection to her Hmong heritage, for which she hopes to serve as a role model to aspiring youth worldwide.
Early Life
[edit]Lexus Vang was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, but grew up in the Milwaukee area, which she considers her true hometown. [4] Lexi is ethnically Hmong, and embraces her culture. She was born also born with three other half siblings [5]
before stepping into the idol spotlight, she dedicated 12 years to competitive ballet—starting at just four years old, and quitting at 16 [6]
Career
[edit]Beginnings
[edit]Before joining A2K, Vang joined a local K-pop cover group called Prism Kru in 2019. [7]
2023-2024:A2K Journey, debut with VCHA
[edit]Lexi began her professional music career by auditioning for A2K (America2Korea), a joint global girl group project between JYP Entertainment and Republic Records. Drawing from her extensive background in competitive ballet, she quickly established herself as a top contender, earning praise for her precision, clean dance lines, and rapid adaptation to hip-hop and commercial performance styles. Throughout the competition, she successfully collected her dance, star quality, and character stones, ultimately placing first overall in the finale to secure her position as the first confirmed member of the group.
Lexi officially debuted as a member of the global girl group VCHA on January 26, 2024, with the release of the single album Girls of the Year, following the group's pre-debut releases earlier that year. In addition to serving as the designated leader of the group, her career milestones include performing as an opening act for labelmates TWICE on their world tour and establishing a historic milestone as the first Hmong-American artist to debut within a K-pop system.
Lexi was chosen as the leader of the group because of her natural ability to take charge behind the scenes, keep the members focused, organized, and disciplined, and help push and support the team through training and daily routines. [8]
2025-Present: Rebrand as GIRLSET
[edit]Following lineup changes that saw the group transition into a four-member quartet under JYP Entertainment and Republic Records, Lexi continued her leadership role when the remaining members officially rebranded and relaunched under the name GIRLSET in August 2025.
