Krystyna Ziach was born in Poland and has been living in Amsterdam since 1979. Between 1973 and 1979, she studied Art History at the University of Kraków, specializing in Modern Art. During that time, she also studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków as well. After she received her sculpture diploma in 1979, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (AKI) in Enschede, the Netherlands. She graduated in 1982 with a Diploma in autonomous photography and video.[1]
Ziach uses painting, performance, and spatial installation in her work, which embodies an exploration of conceptual photography, photo sculptures, and video sculptures. She creates an interplay between personal and collective remembrance by aiming to highlight the shared collective store of images and memories. Serving as a transformative medium, Krystyna Ziach's photography investigates profound themes of existence, memory, and identity. Ziach's work has been exhibited in many different galleries, including many in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland.[2]
In 2012, Ziach donated a couple of her works to the Rijskmuseum in Amsterdam. These works include a couple of 2004 photos titled 'Adult Woman'. The two photos are titled Mayumi I and Mayumi II. Beside these photo's a couple others were donated and are currently in the collection of the museum.[3]
