Josef Hammer is a writer, journalist and poet who works in Persian, Kurdish (Sorani and Kurmanji), Swedish and English.[1] His work spans poetry, political prose, journalism and literary translation.[2]

Literary work

Hammer's first book, Caging Honour: Breaking the Chains of Silence (2023), is a narrative work addressing honour-based violence and societal control.[4] He followed it with the young adult dystopian novel Ayla: Echoes of Dissent (2024), the first book in the Ayla: Chronicles of Rebellion series, released in print, ebook and audiobook editions,[5] and the children's fantasy novel Arden and the Enchanted Whispering Forest (2024).[6]

Hammer also writes poetry in Kurdish Sorani and Persian, including haiku in Persian, and has published a translation critique of "The Internationale".[7]
