Fintua is an Irish fintech company headquartered in Kilkenny Ireland. The company provides indirect tax technology, including VAT compliance, VAT recovery, e-invoicing (electronic invoicing) and tax-related payment solutions. The company is headquartered in Kilkenny, Ireland, and forms part of the CluneTech group of companies.[1] As of 2025, the company reportedly had 41 employees.[2]
History
[edit]The company operated for many years as Taxback International, providing VAT recovery and compliance services to multinational organisations. As indirect tax reporting and digital compliance requirements increased globally, the company subsequently expanded its services to include VAT compliance software, eInvoicing and payment solutions
In June 2025, Taxback International officially rebranded as Fintua. The updated name reportedly combines "Fin" (financial technology) with "Tua", derived from the Irish word tuath, meaning people or community.[3]
Fintua is part of CluneTech, the Kilkenny-based technology group founded by Irish entrepreneur Terry Clune.
Reporting in the Business Post on Fintua's growth, following an AI-led transformation initiative, noted that Fintua employed 41 people at the end of 2024, up from 37 in 2023.[2]
Products and services
[edit]Fintua develops technology products used by tax and finance teams to manage indirect tax obligations. Its offerings include software for VAT compliance, VAT recovery, eInvoicing and cross-border payments. The company also provides integrations with enterprise software platforms, including SAP.[4]
