Fatima Aliko-Dangote is a Nigerian business executive and lawyer. She is the group executive director responsible for commercial operations in oil and gas at Dangote Industries Limited. Her responsibilities cover the group's refinery and petrochemicals business, fertiliser business, and West Africa Exploration and Production.[1] She previously served as executive director for commercial operations at NASCON Allied Industries.[2]
Education
[edit]Aliko-Dangote obtained a bachelor's degree in law from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom and was called to the Nigerian Bar.[3]
She has also attended executive education programmes at Columbia University, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Cambridge.[1]
Career
[edit]Aliko-Dangote worked as an associate at Banwo & Ighodalo, where her work covered capital markets, intellectual property and energy law.[3]
She joined Dangote Group in 2014 as special assistant to the managing director of Dangote Cement. She subsequently worked in the group's corporate strategy division, providing planning and analytical support to its businesses.[3] She also served as executive assistant to the group executive director responsible for business development and portfolio management.[2]
In March 2016, she was appointed to the board of NASCON Allied Industries as executive director, commercial.[3] Her responsibilities included sales, marketing, logistics, transportation and branding.[2]
She subsequently moved into group-level commercial management at Dangote Industries Limited. In February 2026, BusinessDay reported that she would lead the group's commercial activities in oil and gas as part of management appointments involving her sisters, Mariya and Halima.[4]
Her commercial portfolio includes the Dangote Refinery, Dangote Fertiliser and West Africa Exploration and Production. She also oversees the group's branding and communications, strategic procurement and general administration.[1] In August 2026, TheWill reported that she was the only woman among the ten directors listed on the board of Dangote Petroleum Refinery.[2]
Personal life
[edit]Aliko-Dangote is a daughter of businessman Aliko Dangote. Her sisters include Halima Dangote and Mariya Dangote.[5]
In March 2018, she married Jamil Abubakar, a pilot and son of former Nigerian inspector general of police Mohammed Dikko Abubakar.[6]
