FUT Esports (formerly Futbolist) is a professional esports organization based in Turkey. Founded in 2017 by Cesur Sünnetcioglu, the organization has several rosters in games like Counter-Strike 2, Valorant, PUBG Mobile and League of Legends.[1]
History
[edit]FUT Esports was originally started in 2014 by Cesur Sünnetcioglu as Futbolist, a sports news app.[2][3] FUT would shut down the app and become FUT Esports in 2016 and move into the esports scene by founding its FIFA team in 2017.[4]
The FIFA division would see some success, winning ZX No Tilt Cup #11[5], FC Pro 26 November Open Cup Playoffs[6] as well as placing third in the 2019 FIFA eClub World Cup.[7]
FUT announced their new PUBG: Battlegrounds roster on 22 September 2021.[8] This team would play in many tournaments around Europe.[9] They would lose before reaching the final stages of most[9] but would end up placing 24th in the PUBG Global Championship 2023, the most valuable placement they would achieve, with a prize of $22,325 for their placement.[10] On 3 October 2025, FUT announced they disbanded their PUBG: Battlegrounds roster.[11]
Valorant
[edit]In October 2020, FUT Esports would establish their Valorant team under the name Futbolist.[12] In December they would win their first tournament, the Elite Invitational in Turkey[13], as well as placing second in First Strike Turkey, in which they would receive $13,837, their first valuable tournament win. Throughout 2021 the team would mostly play in Turkish tournaments. On 21 March 2021 they would win VCT 2021: Turkey Stage 1 Masters, and win a prize of $30,000.[14] On 8 May 2022, FUT would win the Valorant Regional Leagues 2022: Finals tournament 3–2 against Vitality, with a prize of €50,000.[15][16]
League of Legends
[edit]In December 2022, they would start their League of Legends team by announcing their entrance into the Turkish Championship League (TCL) 2023 Winter Season.[17] The League of Legends team would then disband in December 2024[18][19], only winning one notable trophy, the TCL 2024 Season Cup, an amassing around $19,000 of prize money throughout the two-year span of the team.[20][21]
Counter Strike 2
[edit]FUT entered the Counter-Strike 2 scene, creating their team in May 2025. They would announce their new team on 26 May 2025[22] with the singing of four French players from the then disbanding Mousquetaires team, Audric "JACKZ" Jug, Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier, Etienne "drac" Salaün, David "devoduvek" Dobrosavljevic, as well as a fifth Belgian player, Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom. The creation of this team would also bring in Adil "ScreaM" Benrlitom in an uncommon position as a reserve player as well as a content creator for the team.[23] On 26 May 2025, they would announce the singing of a new roster, that of the ex-NAVI Junior team. This move would bring in four new players Dmytro "dem0n" Myroshnychenko, Nikita "cmtry" Samolotov, Aulon "Krabeni" Fazlija and Džiugas "dziugss" Steponavičius, while keeping previous player Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier on the roster. This would also bring in András "coolio" Fercsák as the coach, who still coaches the team as of April 2026[update].[24] On 11 April 2026, the Counter-Strike 2 FUT team would win the PGL Bucharest 2026 tournament, winning 3–1 against Astralis and secure a $200,000 prize.[25] This was their first notable Counter-Strike trophy[26] and the largest tournament win, by prize money, the FUT Esports organization has won.[27]
Organization
[edit]FUT Esports is owned by its parent company, Futbolist Sportif Hizmetler A.Ş. and is based in Beşiktaş, Istanbul.[28] FUT owns a gaming house in its home city of Istanbul, built for the purpose of housing its multiple teams, as well as visiting away teams.[29][30] The house consists of seven different bedrooms, multiple offices and streaming facilities.[31][30] At a total area of 1,230 m2 (13,200 sq ft), it is one of the largest in Europe.[29][32]
Sponsors of FUT include Adidas, Vodafone[33], Logitech G, Red Bull[34], Migros Hemen[35] and Samsung.[36][4]
