Early life and education
[edit]El Chaar was born in Beirut, Lebanon. He earned a dental degree at Saint Joseph University in 1993. He moved to New York for postgraduate training in periodontics and dental implants at NYU, where he later earned a DDS and a master’s degree in oral biology. [2]
Career and practices
[edit]El Chaar spent more than two decades teaching at NYU College of Dentistry. He served as a clinical associate professor in its Department of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry and directed its Advanced Education Program in Periodontics from 2013 to 2021.[3] He also founded and directed a postgraduate periodontics program at Lutheran Medical Center in 2012. [4]Earlier in his career, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve Dental Corps, retiring as a major. [5]
Alongside his teaching, El Chaar opened Edgard El Chaar DDS PC, a New York City practice focused on periodontics and implant dentistry.
