Double Ace (born Sonu Singh; 16 July 2004) is an Indian independent rapper, songwriter and music producer from Sonpur, Bihar. His music primarily incorporates Hindi and English, with occasional use of Bhojpuri. His work includes hip hop and reggae, among other styles.

Early life

Sonu Singh was born on 16 July 2004 in Sonpur, Bihar. He developed an interest in rap during his teenage years and has cited Indian hip hop artists Raftaar, KR$NA, Karma and Raga as influences.

Singh wrote his first rap while studying in the ninth grade. During a lunch break on a rainy day, he and a friend began writing simple rhyming lines in class. What began as a basic poem gradually developed into an interest in rap and songwriting.

While in the tenth grade, Singh set a personal goal of releasing an original song after completing school.

Career

Singh initially wrote and recorded several unreleased and incomplete songs. His first official release on music streaming platforms was Zazbaat. The song was written as an expression of his personal feelings and experiences and was produced by SoundScape.

While studying in college, Singh began learning music production independently. He learned through free online tutorials and educational content on YouTube. Among the creators whose material he studied were Kurfaat, Mix with Vashudev, Besslila and Dev Next Level.

Singh uses FL Studio for music production and handles his songwriting, production, mixing and mastering independently.

Patna Ki Paro

Patna Ki Paro was Singh's first song in which he produced the complete track himself. The song was released on 14 February 2026 and did not feature a collaborator.

Live performances

As Double Ace, Singh has performed at college events and participated in the RJ40 Cypher in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. He has also worked with artists from his surrounding music community, including Safarr, Mausam, Rapsodies and Nector.

Musical style and themes

Singh's songwriting draws from personal experiences and observations. His songwriting process varies, with some songs beginning with a beat and others beginning with lyrics.

His music primarily uses Hindi and English, with occasional Bhojpuri. He has expressed an interest in combining hip hop with Bhojpuri music and contributing to the development of Bihar's music scene.

One of his personally significant songs is Kyu Aisa Hai Bihar, which discusses perceptions of Bihar from outside the state as well as aspects of life and social and political issues within the state.

Stage name

The stage name Double Ace has several meanings for Singh. The word "Double" refers to the two S initials in his name, Sonu Singh, and also represents what he describes as two sides of his identity: his everyday self and his identity as a rapper. "Ace" represents being at the top and also has a phonetic association with the letter S.
