Double A (1991) Public Company Limited is a Thailand-based manufacturer and distributor of pulp and paper products.[1] The company was incorporated in 1991 and later became a public company limited.[2] Its products are marketed under the Double A brand and distributed in domestic and international markets.[3][4]
The company operates in the pulp and paper sector, producing printing and writing paper and paper pulp through an integrated production process.[5][6] In addition to its core paper business, Double A also operates related businesses under the Double A Care and Double A Fastprint brands.[4][2]
Double A distributes its products and services through retail partners, online platforms, and branded channels such as Double A Copy Center and Double A Stationery Shop.[2]
History
[edit]Double A’s early development is associated with upland agricultural communities in northeastern, eastern, and central Thailand.[7][8] During the early 1980s, research was conducted into plant species that could be cultivated in upland areas and on underutilized land for use as cultivated raw material sources.
Following this research, a tree species later named the “Purpose-Grown Paper-Tree” was adopted as an alternative crop for farmers and as a raw material source for the company.[7][8] This farmer-based cultivation model was later incorporated into the company’s supply structure and became linked to its pulp and paper manufacturing operations.[6][8]
The model formed part of an integrated production system in which cultivated raw material supply from farmers was connected with the company’s integrated pulp and paper mill.[6][8]
Early development (1982–1986)
[edit]Work during this period focused on developing a domestic raw material source for printing and writing paper production based on cultivated fiber. Research continued on crops suitable for upland agricultural areas, and the Purpose-Grown Paper-Tree was adopted as a raw material source following evaluation of several crop types.
Incorporation and industrial expansion (1991–2000)
[edit]Following its incorporation in 1991, the company became a public company limited in 1994.[2] Double A established its integrated pulp and paper mill in Prachinburi Province, Thailand.[5][6] During the 1990s, the company expanded its production capacity and began distributing products beyond the domestic market.
International growth (2001–2010)

[edit]The raw material used in Double A’s paper production is derived from ‘Paper-Tree’ species selected for pulp production through research activities.[8][6] These activities focus on fiber characteristics and productivity for paper manufacturing, including higher fiber density.[8] Several tree species were evaluated for suitability in pulp production.[8][6]
The trees are cultivated in the vicinity of the company’s mill in Prachinburi Province.[7][6] The Paper-Tree is grown on a 3–5-year rotation cycle and is typically harvested for three rotations before the land is replanted with new crops.[7] Tree selection criteria include growth and fiber characteristics relevant to pulp production.[8][6] Ongoing breeding programs continue as part of the company’s raw material development activities.[8][6]
Integrated Mill Operations

The production process incorporates on-site energy generation using manufacturing by-products, including sub-standard wood chips and bark, as biomass fuel.[6][8] This is supplemented by renewable energy sources, including floating solar farms.[6][8] Water used in production is sourced from a man-made reservoir that collects rainwater and is treated for reuse within operations, including Paper-Tree irrigation.[8]

Greenhouse gas targets
[edit]Double A has published greenhouse gas emissions targets, including a stated net-zero target.[4][6] It reports using ISO 14064-1 and Thai greenhouse gas reporting frameworks for emissions assessment, covering operational activities.
Double A also reports the use of solar energy and electric vehicles in some operations, including electric vehicles for raw material transport near its Prachinburi facility.[6]
