Cesar Gueikian is an Armenian-Argentine, naturalized American business executive and musician. He served as president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Gibson, Inc., the American musical instrument manufacturer, from 2023 to 2026.[1][2][3][4]

Early Life and Education

[edit]

Gueikian was born in Argentina to an Armenian family.[5] He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of San Andrés in Buenos Aires before completing a MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he concentrated on analytical finance and economics.[6][7][8]

Career

[edit]

Gueikian began his professional career in investment banking, holding positions at Deutsche Bank and UBS. At UBS, he was involved with the firm's Special Situations and Leveraged Finance Capital Markets groups, working in areas including corporate finance, restructuring, and capital markets.[9]

He later co-founded Melody Capital Partners, an investment firm involved in corporate financing and restructuring.[10]

Gueikian joined Gibson, Inc. in November 2018 as chief merchant officer. He later became brand president, with responsibilities that included product development, brand strategy, artist relations, marketing, and media.[11][12][13]

In May 2023, Gueikian was appointed interim president and CEO following the departure of James "JC" Curleigh.[14][15][16] On July 10, 2023, Gibson's board of directors appointed Gueikian president and CEO on a permanent basis.[17][18]

During Gueikian's tenure as CEO, Gibson continued to develop products and artist collaborations across its Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer brands.[19][20][21][22] The company also expanded its use of digital media and social-media platforms and developed direct-to-consumer initiatives, including the Gibson Garage locations in Nashville and London.[23][24][25]

In June 2026, Gibson announced a planned leadership transition under which Gueikian would leave his positions as president and CEO effective July 31, 2026. He subsequently became a strategic adviser to the board and remained a member of Gibson's board of directors and a global artist ambassador for the company.[26][27][28]

Gueikian has also worked as a guitarist and songwriter. He has collaborated with musicians including Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses on the song "I Can Breathe", and Serj Tankian of System of a Down and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath on "Deconstruction".[29][30][31][32]
